  • Incoming freshman Noelani Day will represent Tonga in the 50m freestyle
     

  • She grew up swimming in the ocean, as Tonga doesn't have a proper swimming pool to train
     

  • She is coming to USC as a student (human bio major), currently not on the swim team
     

  • As a 14-year-old, she became the youngest swimmer to swim Samoa's Apolima Strait between Upolu and Savai'i (about 8 miles) in just over 8 hours, finishing second among females
     

  • In 2019, she came in sixth in the 5K Open Water Swim at the Pacific Games, where she also made the 50m breaststroke final
